Markdown features

This page shows how standard Docusaurus Markdown looks with the theme. You don't need to do anything to get these styles.

Text

Documents are set in Jost, as the design system's own document pages are, at 17px with a line height of 1.6. Headings use Jost too, at the regular weight. Bold and italic work as usual, and links are underlined and turn teal on hover.

Intricate software from simple, rigorous rules. Quotes take a rule at the start edge and recede in muted ink.

  • Lists use the reading face.
  • Nested lists too:
    • one level down
    • and another item
  • And inline code sits on a sunken ground.
  1. Tile the plane with simple shapes.
  2. From each edge's midpoint, draw two lines at a fixed angle.
  3. Remove the scaffolding. The pattern holds.

A third-level heading

Each heading level steps down the design system's type scale. Sections are separated by space, not cards or background blocks.

A fourth-level heading

For small groups inside a section.

Admonitions

Each tone pairs its colour with an icon and a word, so colour is never the only signal.

note

A note, for asides the reader can skip.

tip

A tip, for a better way to do something.

info

Information, for context the reader needs.

warning

A warning, for something that could go wrong. Say how to avoid it.

danger

Danger, for something that can't be undone. Say what happens and how to recover.

Custom titles stay in sentence case

Write the title as you want it to appear. The theme capitalises only the first letter.

Code

src/pages/index.js
import Layout from '@theme/Layout';
import ArabesqueHero from '@theme/ArabesqueHero';

export default function Home() {
const title = 'Documentation from simple, rigorous rules.';
return (
<Layout title="Home">
<ArabesqueHero title={title} primary={{label: 'Get started', to: '/docs'}} />
</Layout>
);
}
.note {
border: 1px solid var(--border);
color: var(--foreground-muted);
padding: var(--space-4) var(--space-5);
}

Tabs

npm install @arabesquelabs/docusaurus-theme-arabesque

Tables

Tables use hairlines between rows, a stronger rule under the header, and small muted header labels. No stripes or fills.

Details

What is the 4.8.8 tiling?

A tiling of the plane by regular octagons and squares, with two octagons and one square meeting at every vertex. The pattern is drawn on it.
